Monday, April 20th - SURELY NOT!

Truett is eating and playing and slowly decreasing his number of dirty diapers. Unfortunatley, he has allergies. Also, yesterday he started gagging and running a low fever. Today he threw up. I, of course, run him immediately to the doctor. I was hopeful that she would say that all of the drainage could cause him to throw up, but she said, "not usually". They want to expect the worst, so I have to take in another stool sample tomorrow to test for c-diff again. SURELY it has not come back!?!? I am going to expect the best and pray like a persistent widow ;-) Will you join me?

Thursday, April 16th

Truett had a follow-up doctor's appointment on Tuesday with the GI specialist at Brenner Children's Hospital. He took a stool sample and had some blood work (CBC) done too. They called me today with the result. Drum roll please (((( dum-ditty-dum-ditty-ditty-dum-dum )))))
The c-diff is gone! Halleluja! True doesn't have to have any more antibiotics and I can stop cleaning everything with bleach. The blood work all came back normal too. Praise God!
Now, he can start the healing process. The doctor said that it would take months before he is back to 100% because he had such a bad infection. I am ready for the diarrhea to stop and I am sure Truett is too. He still has 8-12 dirty diapers a day. It does make me nervous that it might cause his rectum to prolapse again, but thankfully it hasn't in about two weeks. We appreciate your continued prayers for his healing.
Truett is eating well. Actually he is taking in alot, but it's mostly just Pediasure (24-32 oz. a day!) and carbs. He loves biscuits, crackers, potato chips, french fries, mashed potatoes and sweet potatoes.
I continue to be amazed at how many people love and care True Baby. Thank you all for your visits, emails, cards, food, gifts, and mostly your prayers. God has answered them!
....and the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up!... James 5:15

EASTER

Easter wasn't quite as fun-filled and wonderous as I had remembered as a child. Tobias woke up whining and Truett woke up with poo flowing out of his diaper. After a good clean up and breakfast Ashley and I practically had to wrestle them to get their clothes on them. Poor Truett had lost so much weight that his adorable white linen pants fell to his knees and made him fall over. So, he had to wear his corderoy pants. Once Tobias was dressed he cried so much that Truett, who usually follows him around like a puppy dog, went in the toy room to play by himself. Tobias stopped his drama when I gave an Easter basket to the boys. They each had brand new tooth brushes and tooth paste :-) Of course they each wanted to brush their teeth and got slobber and toothpaste all over their ties. Ugh.
I tried taking some pictures at Granny & Pa's house because their flowers are so beautiful. Unfortunately, the only thing pretty in the pictures were the flowers. So much for sweet Easter memories :-)

He's a dancing machine

Truett has developed a new dance. I love it and I hope it puts a smile on your face like it does mine. He is such a ham; always trying to make us laugh.

Strawberries

The first weekend that we were home Ashley and Tobias decided to plant some strawberry plants. I have no idea if it was the right time or not, but they sure had fun doing it. Tobias dug extra holes just because he could. Truett just watched and looked cute.

Truett's hopsital stay

As most of you know, we were in the hospital for 10 days with Truett (15 months old). They spent the first 36 hours doing x-rays, blood tests, stool tests, a CT scan, and a few needless procedures. Finally, they found out he had C-diff, an infection in his colon. The doctors hadn't seen a case this bad in a child. Nor were they able to explain why he kept swelling and retaining fluid. They had him on IV fluids and wouldn't let me feed him. That was the worst part, my baby signing for food, eat, milk, and more and all I could do was just hold him. At the point I couldn't take any more God stepped in. Truett's picc line got infected so they couldn't give him his nutrition through that anymore, his veins kept collapsing when they tried to start a new IV to give him fluids, and he was continuing to retain fluid in his abdomin and around his lungs. It seemed all hope was lost, but hope had been given because since there was no way to sustain him they had to let us feed him (pedialyte & pediasure). He perked up, the swelling began decreasing, and the entire mood of the room we were in changed. I am grateful to the doctors and nurses, but in the end I KNOW it was God who started the healing process.
Thank you all for your concern, care, support, and prayers through this time.
