A Walk

We went on a walk this morning because Tobias was, “ready”, but we had an hour before we needed to leave for the morning’s official outing. With Truett in his Snuggly strapped to my chest and Tobias with his infamous baseball hat we decided to walk to the end of the road and back. I let Tobias set the pace; it’s easy to do since he likes for Truett and I to walk “hind” him.
Most of the trip was stop and go because there is so much to look at in the spring when you are almost 2 years old. Broken twigs w/ pine needles still attached seem to be a broom, so one must stop to pick it up and sweep the sidewalk. A plane flying over head is spotted and he announces, “Daddy!” I am not sure if he thinks Ashley is on the plane or that he made the plane, but he definitely associates the two. He notices an owl statue and tells me what it is and proudly says, “whoo – whoo”. Then he finds a nice spot and asks us to “sit”. Who can pass up a rest? Truett doesn’t like to sit as much as Tobias and I do, so we are back up after only a few seconds rest.
This short rest must have energized big brother because he took off “run fast” on the sidewalk. He ran too fast, tripped, and scraped his knee. He immediately sat down, showed me his “boo-boo” and then kissed it himself! Apparently that didn’t work well though because he wanted me to kiss it too. We saw a neighbor and Tobias had to wave to her as he yelled, “Hi!” He is such a social butterfly. He told her we were on a “walk” and I was “hind” him. Then he showed her his boo-boo. After he had said enough he yelled “Bye-bye!” and waved to her. For some reason though, he likes to stop, wave, and say , “Bye-bye!” numerous times before he feels is it sufficient and decides to head home. As we finished our walk home every few feet he had to stop, sit down, lift up his leg, and kiss his little boo-boo. I was required to kiss it a few more times as well; it feels good to be needed.
